World Golf Championships 2012: Day 4 Leaderboard Analysis, Highlights and More

Ian Poulter used a little of the magic that made him a Ryder Cup hero to claim the World Golf Championships for his first stroke-play tour win since 2010.?

In what is becoming the 36-year-old's trademark, Poulter used some?impeccable?play late in this tournament to take to the win.?

He finished the tournament with a two-stroke win over some insanely talented golfers by posting consecutive seven-under pars on the weekend at the Mission Hills course in Shenzhen, China.?

Check out the names on this leaderboard.?

Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen began the final round as co-leaders as they were tied at 18-under par, but they both tread water with even-par 72s on Sunday.?

That left the door open for Poulter to surge from a four-stroke deficit to a tournament championship. Check out the quality shot making in the final-round highlights, and it will become quickly apparent that an even-par round was not going to cut it on the final day.?

Poulter caught absolute fire over the last two rounds to pass all golfers.

He needed just 54 putts to complete the last 36 holes. He had just one bogey in the final 36 against 13 birdies and an eagle.

Poulter hit the course still hot from Saturday and he birdied two of the first three holes. He ended up making the turn at four under. He then birdied four of the first six on the back and he had a comfortable lead at that point.?

He picked up his lone bogey of the final two days on No. 17, but still coasted to a two-stroke win.?

This is Poulter's second career WGC title, and it is his first win of the season. It also helps give him a satisfying end to his year.?

Poulter was the key figure in the Europeans' historic comeback win over the Americans at the Ryder Cup, and now he gets a WGC title over a stacked field to add to his resume.?
